compact, very strong magnets in motor, can be felt outside case with steel bar, compressor seems like it is well made, even being an offshore import. i've had these two pumps in service for a month and they sound good and pumps well, will update in another 6 months if still no problem.
looks like this compressor could be mounted out in the elements as long as the intake port was piped to a clean location, i typically pipe these to the truck cab so it takes in cleaner and already partially dehumidized ( air conditioned) air.

Viair 44043 440P Portable Compressor Review

I bought this compressor so I could air my tires back up after offroading. I wont go into detail on the advantaged of doing this but theyre significant enough that I wanted to invest in a quality unit vs just getting one of those little toy cigarette lighter ones sold in most stores. I decided on the 440P vs Viair's other offerings because of the air output and i wanted something with a bit faster fill times vs a higher duty cycle or automatic shutoff. As far as the initial quality goes everything seems to be pretty well made. The way the little base attaches to the compressor itself is a little flimsy since its just 4 little rubber standoffs but I doubt they will break if I dont just beat it around. The Hose is also of pretty good quality, Better than I expected even if its the coiled type that always seems to end up tangled in a big ball after one use. As far as using this compressor It does as advertised, runs smoothly and quietly and surprisingly has no problem pumping my 7 gallon air tank to 120PSI. I can air up my 32" tires in 13 mins from 18-50 PSI with the assistance of using the air tank as a resivoir. One thing to keep in mind is the warning stickers on "extreme heat" this thing will really cook after 10-15 mins of being on. You WILL burn yourself if you touch the metal parts. The handle insulates everything but keep it in mind. You cant just throw it back in the carry case when your done it needs to cool off. Only 4 stars because Of the price, and the amount of heat generated. So far ive put it through 6 or 7 airing up cycles so it will be intersting to see how the longevity is. Overall Its a much better unit than the cheaper ones out there that i have used in the past even if they do the job for occasional use, They are no replacement for something like this that will see heavy use.

Accutire MS-4020GB Standard Digital Tire Gauge Review

This product was purchased in the Fall of 2002...
Of the ten or so units on the display rack, two of the units' LCD readout turned on by itself when I squeezed the handle.The reading was 00.0.The units may have been dropped by other customers.Who knows.
Having checked all of the open box units (the newer shipments were sealed in plastic blister packages), I bought the one without the abnormal symptons.For comparison, I also bought a store brand Mastercraft Canadian Tire LCD digital unit for the same non-discounted price.Thank goodness for their generous refund policy at this store.
Tests were conducted on one cold tire.After 3 readings, the Accutire consistently read 30 psig (which was the recommended tire pressure for my car).The Canadian Tire unit consistently read 30.5 psig.The cheapest spring loaded stick-type tire gage consistently read 32 psig.
I can safely declare that either one of the Accutire and Canadian Tire gages are correct within 0.5 psig as specified.The stick-type gage is way off.
Pros;
1)Accurate to within 0.5 psig which is acceptable for safe and economical driving.
2)[cost less]
3)5 year warranty.
4)Aside from the occasional cleaning of the tip, and as long as you don't drop it; it's maintenance free.
5)Low temperature tolerable lithium battery.
6)For my hands, the unit has an ergonomically comfortable rubber-coated grip.
7)Air tight seal on all valves tested everytime.
Cons;
1)A bit chunky in size for compact storage inside the car.
2)It's an electronic equipment, so be delicate with it.
3)Not designed to be water resistant.
The unit has sat inside the car through one 2002 frosty southern Ontario winter, and several hot and humid 2003 summer days.No problems so far.
A valuable and value priced tool.

I purchased this compressor on Amazon.Com. When I received it, it had a broken buckle on the carring bag, and one of the battery clips was completely in pieces, (broken), very tinny and cheaply made.
I returned it immediately, and would not advise anyone to waste their money on this item.
This is the poorest quality product that I have ever gotten from Amazon.com, and if I receive anything in the future that falls into this grade of JUNK, I will find other merchants to buy from.

Master Flow MF-1050 Tsunami High Volume Portable Air Compressor Review

I did a LOT of research before purchasing this particular compressor, and despite the issues that some people have had, I still felt it was going to be the best way to go. Its a drag to buy something, then have to fix it out of the box, but after doing the modifications, this little thing is awesome and reliable.

When it arrived, I connected it for 30 seconds to make sure it worked, then got busy working on the issues I had read might be awaiting me ... and they were there, sure as heck.

Issue #1: There is a relay in back by the switch and they did a lousy job soldering it; install solderless connectors. Additionally, my relay was bad, so I replaced with better quality. (Open the back slowly and carefully). -$6 fix, 30 min repair-

Issue#2: The connector for the hose is an odd duck, so you may want to tap out the head and replace with one more usable. This is not as tough and frightening a job as you think. do some research. -$5 (connector and fitting), 30 min repair-

Issue #3: the gauge is crap, get rid of it. You can find one made for checking tires (slime brand) at an auto parts store and it screws right in. -$3.99, 1 minute repair-

Issue #4: The power cord. I use mine as on-board air and immediately hardwired using large-gauge wire, so it wasn't so much an issue for me. However, some have complained about various minor problems. Research and apply your own solution if needed.

After the mods, I agree with the majority that this to be probably the best portable 12v compressor out there. I use it a LOT in my rock crawler.

Google the name and model number; there are several long and detailed threads on 4x4 forums about this.

Accutire MS-5540 300 PSI 12V Air Compressor with Light Review

This product is very poor quality.

Pros:
* Very handy light.
* Cord is long enough for most uses (but might not reach your rear tires if you don't have an auxiliary power plug in the back of your vehicle).

Cons:
* Cannot have both light and compressor running at same time.
* Vibrates like crazy.
* Very slow. It took more than a minute to go from 28 to 30 psi.
* It connects ok, but when you release the locking lever the rubber inside the compressor's valve connector sticks to the tire's valve stem threads and makes it nearly impossible to remove. You loose massive amounts of air pressure in the attempt. I had to return the compressor because I can't see how this can be considered anything other than defective. Maybe this problem is limited to the one I received?

Viair 00093 90P Portable Air Compressor Kit Review

I'm very impressed by the performance of the 90P Viair compressor.I originally had wanted to buy the 70P Viair compressor because it was cheaper and because it has the car accessory plug-in (instead of the alligator clips), but both my cars has a 10amp accessory fuse and I did not want to take the risk of blowing them every time I used the compressor (I believe the 70P has a 14 amp draw). This led me to consider either the Masterflow, or the MV50, because of their reviews in Amazon.After reading many reviews later, I decide against both of them, mainly because I wasn't very keen on the screw-on air chuck and the coil spring hose.I wanted the snap-on chuck and didn't want to have to stretch a hose to get to a tire. Plus, I noticed that if the hose is attached to the farthest tire, the gauge would wind up being on other end of the car since it's attached to the compressor.I know these are small inconveniences, but for me, I wanted easy on, easy off, no pulling, and the tire gauge by the tire. The 90P looked to have what I wanted plus I thought it looked sturdier and well built. The price of the 90P was a little more than I wanted to pay but the reviews I read convinced me to give it a shot
I have a couple of tires with slow leaks that I haven't had a chance to bring in to fix.I was amazed at how fast it pumped up my tires from about 25lbs to 32lbs (both tires in about 1 min. each).I also topped off all four of my sister's tire in a few mins.The attached air gauge was just as accurate as my hand held gauge, and the bleeder valve on the chuck is definitely a plus.I know I probably won't be using the compressor as much, once I fix my tires, but WOW, you really get what you paid for. Not only is this fast, it quiet.I'm sure the Masterflow and the MV50 performance are probably comparable based on their reviews, but overall, I'm very happy with my choice. I have two other compressors which I paid about $25 for and they are twice asloud and take about 10 times longer.I'll probably keep one as a spare and throw the other one away.
Of course, after I bought this and used it, I found out that there is an 80P viair out there, also with the snap-on chuck, but for less. I would have gone and exchanged the two to save some money, but, I'm so impressed with 90P's performance that I didn't want to go thru the hassle of mailing it back and risk being disappointed.Will probably try the 80P if I need another one, but if they ever discontinue the 80P, I would definitely buy this one again.
I didn't give this a five star because I thought the wire should have been just a little longer and the price more inline with its competitors.

Living in north Wisconsin we get hit with some pretty bad weather in the winter.This has just about all you will in case of an emergency.It comes in a nice cloth bag and fits well under our SUV's back seat.I compared it others, e.g. AAA's kit, and you get much more for the money.A lot of other kits are "54 piece" for example but they count 10 band-aids as 10 pieces and 10 handi-wipes as 10 more.What this kit seems to do is combine what would take you two other kits.Some kits have a compressor but not cables, some have cables but not a compressor and so on.This has it all.

I probably would not use the "Slime" itself if I could avoid it, I know its not suppose to damage the tires, but I'm paranoid.

The key with these kits is don't expect the compressor, for example, to put out the power of a tank model.It will fill the tire and get you someplace where you can really fix it, it just takes a while.They are emergency kits, not something you would use everyday and though the items are well built it seems like, are just not built for inflating tires, again for example, every day.

This product works great from my experience. But depending on the damage, this product will not work on damages particularly if the damage is on the side wall. You will need to rotate the wheel to make sure the solution goes into the puncture. Also, I would imagine that bigger holes will not be fixed by this method.

The main idea is that you do not have to be strong person or such handy man to get going after suffering from a flat tire. You don't need an air pump/compressor as it also pumps some air into the tire. After attaching the can and pumping in the liquid, your tire will be off the ground about a few inches and you can drive 2 to 4 miles carefully to the closest gas station. Then you can have them fixed the tire, or if you don't have the time, you can put some more air to what is recommended and you are good to go.

I have been driving for 17 years now and I had 3 chances to use this product. The last time was last week, when my wife called me that the left rear tire of our Acura MDX was flat. I then have to used a portable pump to add more air into it. Initially it registered as 12.5 psi. I then pumped more air until it reached around 31 psi. 2 days after, the tire is still good. I am just waiting for my new tire to be delivered and I will replace the tire which anyway is just about close to the end of its life. The label on the can also recommend to have your tire professionally repaired at your earliest convenience.
