Viair 44043 440P Portable Compressor Review

I bought this compressor so I could air my tires back up after offroading. I wont go into detail on the advantaged of doing this but theyre significant enough that I wanted to invest in a quality unit vs just getting one of those little toy cigarette lighter ones sold in most stores. I decided on the 440P vs Viair's other offerings because of the air output and i wanted something with a bit faster fill times vs a higher duty cycle or automatic shutoff. As far as the initial quality goes everything seems to be pretty well made. The way the little base attaches to the compressor itself is a little flimsy since its just 4 little rubber standoffs but I doubt they will break if I dont just beat it around. The Hose is also of pretty good quality, Better than I expected even if its the coiled type that always seems to end up tangled in a big ball after one use. As far as using this compressor It does as advertised, runs smoothly and quietly and surprisingly has no problem pumping my 7 gallon air tank to 120PSI. I can air up my 32" tires in 13 mins from 18-50 PSI with the assistance of using the air tank as a resivoir. One thing to keep in mind is the warning stickers on "extreme heat" this thing will really cook after 10-15 mins of being on. You WILL burn yourself if you touch the metal parts. The handle insulates everything but keep it in mind. You cant just throw it back in the carry case when your done it needs to cool off. Only 4 stars because Of the price, and the amount of heat generated. So far ive put it through 6 or 7 airing up cycles so it will be intersting to see how the longevity is. Overall Its a much better unit than the cheaper ones out there that i have used in the past even if they do the job for occasional use, They are no replacement for something like this that will see heavy use.
