There is no question that this product performs perfectly but can be better in certain areas.I have no faults with this product because it does perform more precise than most consumers need it to be. This gauge measures down to .001mm which is much more than an average everyday consumer will need when calibrated properly.
The unit does have a 'zero' out function so that you can zero out the tool.nice little feature.
My only whine is that the product does feel a bit cheap, being made entirely out of plastic.Although it is only ~$15 bucks I wouldn't have mind spending a few bucks more to have a metal one.This is in no way the products fault, so yes I would recommend this to a friend.
Also, it comes with a protective case AND an extra watch battery.
