Product Description:
Hella's Tire Pressure Monitor offers a fully active, radio-controlled system for permanent monitoring of tire pressure and temperature. High-tech sensors replace the tire valves and transmit pressure and temperature by radio to the central unit, which in turn forwards this data to the cockpit display. In the event of sudden pressure loss, the control unit triggers an optical and acoustic alarm via the display positioned in the cockpit. Additionally, the system also warns of slow loss of pressure and of excess pressure. The temperature gauge on the sensor allows the driver to determine the accuracy of the readings as the tires expand and contract from outside air temperature. The background color of the display can be adjusted to seven different colors to match the vehicle instrument lighting. In addition, a maximum of three sensors for spare tires can be added to the system.

Tire Pressure Wireless Monitoring System 4 Sensors Review

Tire Pressure Wireless Monitoring System 4 SensorsThe Nikko Tire Pressure Wireless Monitoring system - was shipped quickly and arrived well packaged.

The Unit appears to be well made. And setup was super easy - you just insert the included batteries into the sensor caps and screw them onto the existing wheel valve stems.

I was able to get sensor readings from all four sensors with no problem from inside the car.The sensor caps - weigh 11grams.

My major complaint - which is why I returned the unit - was the lack of accuracy of the sensor caps.

The manual states that the sensor caps are accurate to +/- 0.5 psi.
Using two separate digital tire gauges that I have (which I know are correct & match readings) - I found out that 3 of sensor caps wereLow by 4psi & one sensor was off by 5psi. Thats a little to far off the mark for me so I sent them back.

Product Description:
Tire the device that makes cars run and it is the crucial key to vehicular safety. Thus, every driver should be clearly informed regarding effective maintenance and regular tire checkups. The most important item of tire inspection is tire pressure. If the tire pressure is too low, the ??turning?? feature will be greatly affected. Meanwhile, fuel consumption may increase leading to tear and wear and great dangers may result. Therefore, drivers must regularly perform tire pressure checkups and pump air into tires as regulated. EverSmiling Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) has powerful and accurate monitoring functions that allow drivers to be in control of tire conditions and ensure vehicular safety. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has already passed the law stating that effective September 2007, all vehicle types including trucks, buses, family cars, and RVs should be equipped with ??Tire Pressure Monitoring System, TPMS)?? The main purpose of this system is to warn drivers when tire pressure is low so that dangerous driving under inadequate tire pressure can be prevented. NHTSA provides two options for car companies in compliance with the regulations namely: Pressure-Sensor Based TPMS (PSB TPMS) (Direct Tire Pressure Monitoring System) -and Wheel-Speed Based TPMS (WSB TPMS) (Indirect Tire Pressure Monitoring System).

Schrader AirAware 20256 TPMS Wireless Retrofit Kit Review

Schrader AirAware 20256 TPMS Wireless Retrofit KitI was looking for a system to monitor tires on my truck and RV trailer both. This one does not do that! First one I bought used external sensors and had capability to monitor up 22 tires, though it only came with 6, which was enough to monitor the 6 tires on my trailer. I didn't like the look of the external sensors; particularly on the truck, so for about what it was going to cost me to buy the additional 4 sensors to monitor my truck as well, I found thissystem Schrader AirAware 20256 TPMS Wireless Retrofit Kit, which used internal sensors and decided to try it in addition to what I'd already bought.

Pros:
Sensors are internally mounted; no big ugly external sensor screwed on the end of the valve stem in place of a valve cap like other kits offer.
You can adjust tire pressures without having to remove sensors like the screw on type sensors require.
Monitors both pressure and temperature of the tires.
Pretty easy to set up (sensor learning process) plus built in functionality to handle tire rotation later on without having to relearn.
Power management; both the sensors and recievers power down after periods of inactivity and resume when they sense motion (vibration).
Reasonably priced.

Cons:
Only monitors 5 tires max.
Not recommended for trailer use (range issues?).
Though the unit is constantly monitoring each wheel, the display does not automatically rotate and display status of each tire. You can manually scroll and view a specific tire though, and when (if) it does sense a problem, it does automatically switch to and display the status of the tire of concern.
The alarm is not very loud, hard for me to hear over my diesel rattle. It does flash a visual indication when there is an alert.
Tires have to be broken down to access sensors (as is the case with any internal type).

So far I've been real pleased with the unit and peace of mind it provides me when traveling, and having separate system for truck and trailer has been alright too, when I disconnect trailer, I can just turn off or leave at home the monitor for the trailer; a single unit would require me to reprogram if trailer was there or not (as they also alert if theres no communication from a programmed wheel).

WIRELESS TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR Review

WIRELESS TIRE PRESSURE MONITORHello All,

I've had this Motorcycle Tire Pressure Monitoring System for about 6 months now... So I feel I can now review them.

Fitment:
Well, it couldn't be easier to fit these. You simply remove your valve stem caps, and substitute these. They take little "pill" or "button" batteries that slip easily into place. Then you simply install the AAA battery in the receiver unit, turn it on, and follow the easy instructions to program your high and low pressure warnings and temperatures.

Functionality:
The units react very quickly, and you can test this by just twisting the caps open a little to let the pressure between the cap and the valve get out... The cap will immediately send the low pressure signal to the "key fob" display, which will beep its alert and vibrate. Provided that the batteries in all the units are good.

Pros:
Easy to fit, pretty easy to program, external to tire (so no need to dismount you wheel, then the tire, then fit those internal units, then mount it all back up again; knowing that you will have to do it all over again when the sending unit batteries go flat!). The units are pretty accurate. In my experience within 0.5-1.0 psi of the actual pressure (checked against several very accurate gauges). This system is quite a bit less expensive than the other "internal" units, especially when you consider the labor to fit them if you are not doing the install yourself. And it is way cool to be able to check your pressures at the touch of a button. Also, if you attach the unit to the bars or dash (or close to body so you can feel the vibration while you are riding), it could save you some real problems by alerting you to a low pressure situation BEFORE you actually have a totally flat tire. Which could mean that you pull off the freeway earlier, into a Truck Stop, where there are facilities to repair your tire. Which is way better than sitting at the side of the highway, trucks and cars whizzing by, trying to lift the front end of you bike in the air to change the front tire!!!

Cons:
AND PAY ATTENTION HERE!!! These units are no substitute for checking your tire pressures with an accurate gauge!!! They can sometimes show the last pressure registered, and if you don't pay attention to the TINY "link" icon, you might think all is OK, when it isn't!!! Also, you need to pay VERY close attention to the "power" icon. As if you get low power in the monitor, or the sending units, the icon will illuminate, BUT again, it still showed the previous reading. The monitor is a "Key Fob" style, with no facility to mount it on the dash or bars. This means that in all likelyhood, the unit will sit in a jacket pocket (like mine did), where you can't effectively feel the vibration (or mistake it for your phone) while riding with all the wind buffeting and noise. A big imporvement to the unit would be to supply it with some form of mount... Or even Velcro... And a way to easily remove the chain that attaches to your keys...

BUT BIGGEST ISSUE HERE IS NOT ERRANT READINGS... IT IS SAFETY!!!
It is my opinion (after actually experiencing this first hand), that these units should NEVER be installed on bikes which have rubber valve stems! They should ONLY BE INSTALLED ON MOTORCYCLES THAT HAVE METAL VALVE STEMS, PERIOD! Over time, cruising on the freeway at higher speeds, cross country where one might run higher than the posted limit, the constant pressure of the weight of the valve caps under centrifugal force of the wheel rotating at high speed, WILL BEND THE RUBBER VALVE STEM OVER TO THE RIM!!! Do this time after time (speeding up and slowing down again as you do on the freeway) and eventually it CAUSES THE VALVE STEM TO TEAR, causing it to lose air. If you are lucky like I was, you are ONLY left at the side of the road with a flat FRONT tire, a broken valve stem, in the middle of nowhere on a Sunday!!!!!!!! That's if you are LUCKY! If you are not... The consequences of a high speed rapid deflation of the front tire (as mine was) could be catastrophic!!!

Conclusion:
A great little system IF...

1. You make sure your batteries are always in a good condition, and you program it correctly.
2. You really PAY ATTENTION to the TINY icons in the corners of the screen of the TPMS monitor.
3. YOU NEVER FIT THESE TO RUBBER VALVE STEMS (I'm pretty sure they are fine on metal ones, especially the steel kind with "O-Rings").
4. You keep the monitor where it can be seen, or felt easily while riding the bike... Otherwise you lose the warning aspect of the unit.

Things to think about...
It's a pretty expensive way to check your tire pressures... Especially when an inexpensive (less than $5) gauge will do the same thing... And that when you check you tire pressures manually, you are also way closer to your tires, which allows you to assess their condition, and maybe note uneven wear, or a cut, or a nail... Whatever. Bottom line is you may see something you would have otherwise seen by checking manually (just as you do when cleaning you bike frequently).

I hope this review helps you to make a good buying decision... Until next time... "Keep the rubber side down!"

Hopkins 30100VA nVision Tire Pressure Monitoring System Review

Hopkins 30100VA nVision Tire Pressure Monitoring SystemCompared many brands and this was best overall due to number of memory locations (24).With multi-vehicles I can monitor all tires in one unit without having to purchase multi receivers, just transfer this one receiver to other vehicles as needed and ZINGO all done. The receiver has a large viewing screen making it easy to read; it is also self-checking.Mdl 30100VA has 4 sending units whereas Mdl 38100VA has 6 sending units.Additional sending units come 4 units per set and their internal batteries last 3-5 yrs before replacement depending on how often the pressure is monitored/checked externally; at about $20 a unit spread over 3-5 yrs that isn't bad. Product Description:
The Hopkins 30100VA nVision Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is a wireless, in-vehicle diagnostic tool designed to effortlessly enable drivers to monitor the tire pressure of every one of the vehicles they have on the road. Installing in minutes on nearly any set of tires, pressurized from 10 to 150 PSI, fully customizable, able to track up to 24 tires simultaneously and possessing four different memory positions, it is the ideal TPMS for motorhomes, trucks that pull trailers, and standard passenger cars and trucks.

Monitor tire pressure from your dashboard.

Tires bear the full weight of your vehicle as you move down the road, and maintaining proper air pressure plays a significant role in protecting them from dangerous blowouts, preventing excessive and/or uneven wear, and maximizing overall fuel efficiency. But situated out of sight of the driver, tire pressure levels are all too often neglected. Nine of ten tire failures are caused by driving on under-inflated tires, and tires do not become visibly low until they have lost 40% of their air. Dangerous driving conditions begin when tires pressure is 25% low, which can be a recipe for disaster.

Hopkins 30101VA nVISION Tire Pressure Monitoring System Sensor - Pack of 2 Review

Hopkins 30101VA nVISION Tire Pressure Monitoring System Sensor - Pack of 2I have had many blowouts on trailer tires when I'm towing, and I believed they all started with the tire air pressure being too low without me realizing it.Even when I have checked the tires before a trip, things happened during the trip and, not realizing it I continue driving and end up ruining at least a tire, sometime an entire wheel, hub and axle, other trailer parts, or the tire next to the one that blew out. When I saw this system it seemed like a very good idea for me.I got the transmitters from Amazon where I found them for less than the retail price.

When I first installed them, I wasn't getting good reception.I called the company and they sent me a free antenna extender and the reception was fine.

One day after I got the system working, while parked at home overnight, my warning signal was going off on one of the tires.I figured I must have not sealed it well when I installed it, so I aired up the tire and used the trailer. Then next morning the warning was going off again on the same tire.I removed the tire and sure enough I had run over something and the tire had a slow leak. After just one use the system has already saved me one tire problem.I think the system is great even at the retail price, and if you can find the same system for less, that's even better.

Orange Electronic P409S Retrofit Tire Pressure Monitoring System Review

Orange Electronic P409S Retrofit Tire Pressure Monitoring System...and highly recommended if you don't.Bought this device from another online vendor because Amazon had not yet started carrying it.This one gets only 4 1/2 stars because depending on where you place it, the displaymight not be readable in bright light conditions. However, the audible alarm will promptly alert you of anything headed south with your tire pressures.

I bought this tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) after losing the center differential to the tune of $880 in our 2004 Subaru. What in the world does this have to do with TPMS?Well, it turns out much more than you would think!

Most folks who own full time all wheel drive vehicles don't realize that they must keep close watch on tire pressures, tire brands, etc., especially if you have a manual transmission. If you own a full time all wheel drive vehicle, check your user manual to see what it says about buying tires for it and keeping
them properly inflated. Many of these vehicles might have to have ALL FOUR tires replaced in the event only 1 becomes unserviceable.

You might also find that you will have a FULL SIZED spare instead of one of those donut types. This is because no tire can vary in CIRCUMFERENCE more than 1/4" - 1/2" from another in order to maintain proper rolling characteristics. That my friends, is a pretty tight spec!Pressures must also be adjusted for loading of the vehicle. Some all wheel drive vehicles might still have the donut spare, but you will be limited in speed and how far you can drive on it.Your user manual might not explain why or you might question it and ignore the precaution...a very bad idea. Failure to heed this tidbit of information could result in a very expensive repair. The forces at work here are similar to those of driveline binding, a concept known to most seasoned 4WD vehicle operators...it just never occured to me how much a chronically low tire on a drive axle could really cost me!

The reason for this can get a little technical but I will try to keep it simple. The amount of air pressure in most tires affects how many times it will rotate over a given distance. With less air pressure in your tire, it will generally roll more times per mile, run hotter and under certain conditions, put more stress on the driveline of your full time all wheel drive vehicle. If it is normal for your tire pressure to be 30 psi at all 4 wheels and you have one tire running at 22 psi, you could be headed for trouble if you allow this condition to persist. It is even worse if you have a slow leak and just keep pumping it up rather than getting it fixed like I did.

Most all wheel drive vehicles have some means to detect the rotation of your wheels and based on that information redistribute power to the wheels that have the most traction. One tire running substantially low on pressure than the other 3 will be seen as a wheel that is constantly slipping.Yourvehicle will try to compensate for that by sending more power to the other 3 wheels.Usually a differential of some sort is involved in that process.Under low speed conditions, say 5 mph or so, there is really not much of a problem. But if you run a tire that is chronically low for 5000 miles (an oil change interval) at highway speeds, you could be headed for trouble. The lesson here is that a low tire over thousands of miles on a drive axle could eventually cause a problem.

How fast things go downhill will likely be determined by the design of your all wheel drive vehicle, the power distribution concept, whether it is an automatic or manual transmission and the difference(s) in the rolling characteristics between wheels.

In 2008 I believe TPMS systems became mandatory on all new vehicles sold in the U.S., but that was mostly safety related to prevent accidents that could be attributed to poor tire inflation. There was probably a little bit of "green thinking" involved in there, too as tire pressure relates to fuel economy and its impact on the nation's oil reserves. Some of these OEM devices are reported to
be not as flexible as after market ones.

What I like about this model is that you can set the Hi and Lo alarm limits for your application. (OEM TPMS systems might not allow you this flexibility because they don't want you changing anything.)The Orange's display will show green for
tires within the limit and turn to red and sound an alarm when the pressure goes outside the limits. You can also set the device to show pressure only, temperature only, or to toggle between temperature and pressure as well as set a temperature alarm. It is also one of the easiest aftermarket devices I've seen to reset when you rotate your tires.

I had my system installed upon buying a new set of tires at a popular warehouse chain. They installed it at no additonal charge. You will have to learn how to set it after rotating tires as some tire shops might not know how to do it, especially if you didn't get the device from them.It is also a good idea when you buy new tires or have a tire removed from a rim for flat repair, that you
let them know you have such a system installed in order to prevent damage to the sensors. In the days of rubber valve stems, tire shops would cut the valve stem or use a tool to pull it out to deflate the tire faster.Any tire shop worth its salt should be able to immediately recognize that you have a TPMS by looking at your valve stem. This may cause some tire shops to want to at least provide a new internal spring loaded portion (core) of the valve stem when servicing your tire.I would expect the fit to be fairly universal with no issues. However, they should not try to sell you new sensors. If you need one, make sure it is from Orange to ensure compatibility wth your display.I really see no need to replace sensors unless they are not working. For what it's worth, I have driven millions of miles and have never had the core of a valve stem fail, although I have recently had the rubber type valve stem fail because of long term exposure to the southwestern elements and an improper material spec when manufactured on the other side of the Pacific.

One final note is that this device should be relied upon only to detect changes (mostly deflation) in tire pressures. You will get much greater accuracy and conistency of measurement using a simple slider type tire gauge.Electronic devices have random and systematic errors that can affect their accuracy even among the same types of sensors.Be mindful of the accuracy spec on the TPMS and that you are actually using a different sensor to measure each tire.If you see a difference between your tire gauge and the TPMS, most often the tire gauge will be more accurate.Use the tire gauge to set pressures and use your TPMS to detect and warn you of changes that can affect safety and help you avoid conditions that can affect the long term service life of your vehicle's drivetrain.

If you have just regular front wheel or rear wheel drive, this device could easily save you a lot of money just by preventing things like an expensive tire from being destroyed, being stranded in the hot desert with your wife and kids or something similar.I even carry a pump now in case I develop a slow leak.If you don't have TPMS and do a lot of driving....get one....THIS one!
