TOURMASTER/CORTECH SYNERGY GLOVE BLACK Review

I ride in Toronto, Ontario, figured a heated gear item will add 20% to my season.
I bought the tourmaster Synergy Glove and Jacket (for easy connection)..
Ofcousre the jacket puts an INCREDIBLE amount of heat, I found the gloves to be really nice on 'Medium' while temperature was around 6c (low 40's F), When it was down to 2 degrees (that is mid 30's) I put the jacket and Glove on 'High', the hand was OK, but the thumps specially right one were really cold.
I tried the next day and added a small cheap woolish glove liner and that seemed to work fine for a short ride (will add a review later for long rides).

Let me just state, two things..
1 - I am the guy with cold hands, I mean I wear heavy heavy skii gloves when riding in low 50's so these gloves were less bulky and very very comfortable in the low 40's and mid 30s was very impressive.
2 - This is my first heated gear so I have no point of reference other than that my cold numb hands are a thing of the past and I am happy.

Synergy Jacket, Vest and Pant Liners

Synergy Gloves include the Power Lead Wiring Harness, Temperature Control Unit and a V-Split Connector (Required when using Synergy Gloves with Synergy Pant or Vest liners).

TOURMASTER/CORTECH EPIC MOTORCYCLE JACKET HI-VISIBILITY YELLOW Review

Not only were these jackets not designed properly, Tourmaster's vaunted customer service is failing too.

The jacket has a vent on each sleeve. The bottom of that vent is not sealed. The result is that it acts exactly like a funnel to channel all the water on the outside of the sleeve inside the sleeve. In other words, the "waterproof" jacket is anything but.

Sending the jacket back to Tourmaster has also been an interesting challenge. They tested the jacket, decided that it did, indeed, leak, and proceeded to issue a replacement, or so the story goes. At this point, I've been without a jacket for four weeks because "they are replacing so many of these that they can't get them out fast enough."

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that the zipper holding the hoodie broke the first time I used it.

I'd go elsewhere for a jacket.

TOURMASTER/CORTECH AIRFLOW GLOVE SILVER Review

The Airflow gloves seem pretty solid, heavier protection than I thought I was getting, and the price was great.The airflow to my hands is decent, less than I thought I would get, but acceptable.I got a size large after using the sizing chart, though I usually wear medium, and these were very tight out of the box, but are just right after a break in period.Pretty decent product.

Shoei Hornet DS Helmet - 4X-Large/Black Review

It's everything I looked for.Great fit, Very nice face shield, seals great, has high quality feel and several detents for partially open, etc.Visor is a touch shorter than a full off road MX style helmet, which is good at road speeds.Up to 60 mph or so...buffeting is not bad.Faster, I would say be careful.Any visor is gonna start to pull your head around as the wind picks up...but yes...visor is worth having, really blocks the low sun morning/eve.Fogging is very minimal except when I rode a few times at 35 degrees out, even then, only when stopped.

For Dual Sport riders, this is a great helmet. I hated to pay 400 bucks for it but did and am very glad.The cheekpads are removable and for 40 bucks, you can get thinner/thicker ones for a PERFECT feel.

What pushed me over the edge to buy was the feel, specifically...large ear pockets inside this helmet=NO crushed ears.I hate that!

The only real quality competitor to this model is the Arai XD, which is also a very nice helmet, fit, etc. BUT...visor is longer and I bet grabs more air=more wind buffeting on the street. For buzzing around town either would be good though. I did try both the Shoei and Arai on, then settled on the Shoei becuase of price and the shorter visor.A bonus I did not expect but got with this, is MUCH more peripheral vision than any of my street helmets in the past!

Lastly, Simpson makes a helmet of this type but the quality is not up to par.I wanted to buy American but nothing about it matched the Arai or Shoei.Too bad.I used to buy only Simpson.
