Slime 10010 Tubeless Motorcycle Tire Sealant - 8 oz. Review

Got a screw in my rear tire the other day, which I had just replaced cause my last one got a huge nail in it when the tire still had at least 6 months of riding left on it. This tire is less than a month old, so I wasn't about to just drop another $230 to replace it again. But it was a challenge to find any decent reviews on options I could use to patch it up by other motorcyclists. Most, with no first-hand experience just said "Don't do it!!" So I suppose I've put my life at risk, for you, to truly put this product to the test under real motorcycle riding conditions. (Don't try this at home, I was VERY careful about monitoring the condition of the tire at all times during my testing)

I ride a 2003 Honda CBR 600 F4i, this bike is my daily driver. I ride it at least 30 miles round-trip to and from work every weekday. The screw was about an inch long, not very big, maybe a drywall screw. It was right in the groove of the tread so it had even less area for the Slime to work its magic in(I assume it would work better if it had the entire depth of the carcass to work into). When I twisted it out I heard a slow leak, put about 1/3 the bottle of Slime into the tire and rolled it around for a bit; leak seemed to stop. Next morning the tire is still inflated, no audible leaking, so I rode to work at a moderate pace, mindful of the feel of the rear tire. By the end of the work day the tire had flattened. The puncture is a couple inches to the right of the center of the tire, so I figured the Slime may have settled away from it and now air was escaping. So I put the remaining 2/3 of the Slime in, pumped it up and rode very slowly leaning the bike as far as I could over to the right to spread the Slime out on that side. The tire was at about 25 psi(41 is recommended under normal conditions for this tire) and it stayed that way for the next couple days. Now keep in mind this is a very small puncture, even with no Slime it didn't leak out incredibly fast. I had used Slime once before when an older 750 I had got a cut in the rear tire and the Slime just sprayed right out of the tire as I rode it. Okay, back to the story: So it's been a couple days, no loss in pressure, so last night I decide it's time to see if it can hold the full 41 psi and some real centrifugal force from riding at highway speeds. So I filled up the tires at the gas station near work, cleaned off a spot under the seat so I'd see if any slime sprayed out of the tire, and headed to school about a 20 minute ride away. Most of it was on the highway, I did some hard accelerating, got up just over 90mph, and a couple times got some decent lean angles. When I got to school and parked it, the bead of Slime was no longer showing coming out of the puncture and I could hear a slow leak, but it didn't look like Slime sprayed all over the undertail of my bike. By the time I got out of class the pressure had dropped back down to 25psi or so and stayed that way overnight and got me to work again this morning.

So my conclusion, under these circumstances, is that this product works amazing. It's not a permanent solution for a street bike, even with a puncture so mild as mine, but it's possible to get you by for at least a few days until you can figure something else out. Which is exactly what I plan to do, cause I still don't want to buy a brand new $230 tire. So my next review will be the Slime Tire Plugger kit, which I already received. I'll probably put one of those in within the next few days.

Slime COMP 07 Rechargable Tire Inflator Review

I was hesitant to buy a product with "Slime" as the brand name. Nevertheless, it was on sale and I decided to risk it. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised! It was cheaper than my previous tire inflator from Sears( I called the red hot mama!) and was much better. It was easy to use and was powerful enough to inflate the tires on two vehicles quickly without getting hot. I would recommend it to anyone and plan to seek out the "Slime" brand next time.

Slime 40003 Smart Spair Tire Sealant and Inflator Kit Review

I bought this kit as a "spare spare" for my SUV.You never know when one spare is enough and getting out of the back country is important.

It has everythong I need, but the inflator (air pump) is too wimpy.The warnings instruct:

1. Do not operate for more than 8 minutes continuously.
2. Allow compressor to cool 25 minutes between uses.

It's probably good enough for a car, but I'm getting a more capable compressor for the SUV.I don't care if it pumps slow, as long as it won't break if I forget to set a timer.

The other troubling thing is the warning to run the compressor only with the engine turned off.Over voltage protection isn't that expensive and I don't want to risk discharging my battery.When far from civilization, a dead battery is worse than a flat tire.

JOE'S TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE, 0 - 60 PSI Review

I own 3 racecars and two motorcycles.Tire pressure not only affects tire wear but more importantly handling.

Long story short: I moved to Scottsdale recently, but most of my things are still in storage in Chicago (including 3 very nice tire pressure gauges).Got new tires on one of my bikes.Didn't want to spend a lot of money for a tire pressure gauge since I already have 3 ($50-$440) gauges...so I bought an "affordable" gauge at Walmart.Was having handling issues which I was blaming on the shocks.Started to see wear issues on the tires within 3 weeks, 2200 miles.Thought (another) good gauge would be a good investment at this point.Liked the Joe's gauge because of price, because I have other Joe's products on my racecars, and because the vendor selling on Amazon (HRP) only sells top quality stuff (I've actually visited their facility).

Moroso 89562 Pro Series Tire Pressure Gauge Review

I purchased the Moroso 89562 gage in order to insure maximum life and best performance for the very expensive high-performance tires on my new car. I have had too many tires in the past end up with uneven wear from improper inflation through my use of standard-grade economy gages. I was determined that would not happen again. The cost of this gage seemed high at first, but it is only a small fraction of the cost of a new set of high-performance tires. I have three cars and this gage showed that every one of them had incorrect pressures. This is the only gage I have owned where I feel confident that the tire pressure is correct (I have worked with scientific instrumentation throughout my 30+ year career as a physicist).

I chose to go with the mechanical movement in this gage (as opposed to the electronic sensor technology used in some other gages). My faith in a well-built mechanical gage was higher because I felt that it was easier (simpler and less costly) to build an accurate mechanical gage than an electronic gage with the same accuracy. NOTE: Do not confuse ACCURACY with PRECISION. Most manufacturers get this wrong. Accuracy is the ability of the gage to read pressure correctly on an absolute scale. Precision is the ability to see differences between two pressure readings. Most manufactures claim high degrees of accuracy for their gages when they really mean precision. High accuracy is the specification that you need in inflating to the correct pressure.

The readings from this gage are repeatable (the same from one reading to the next) and easy to view on its large scale. The seal between the tire chuck and the valve stem is excellent resulting in virtually no air leakage. You do have to hold the gage upright (as mentioned in the instructions) in order to get an accurate reading.

This is a high-quality instrument that comes in a fitted protective storage case. It should easily pay for itself in longer tire life (replace them less often) and better tire performance (better traction and fuel economy). I highly recommend this gage to anyone - but especially to those who have high-performance and/or expensive tires.

Q Industries HV35 SuperFlow 12V Air Compressor Review

I just received my Superflow HV35. I have tested it on a tire and I can say that this pump is much faster than both the Craftsman and Campbell Hausfeld models that I own. I didn't do any formal timing but the HV35 aired up a 215-70R14 tire from near flat to 32 lbs in around 4 minutes. Compared to about 15 minutes for the Craftsman pump and over 20 minutes for the CH. Considering it is in the same price range as those units makes it even better.

The HV35 unfortunately is not without issue. Some of the build quality looks questionable(rounded screw heads, cheap hardware).
It came with an extremely junky plug. In fact it was broken when the unit arrived. No real problem for me anyway. I added about an extra 10ft of wire and a set of gator clips(as on battery chargers) that way I can connect it direct to the battery and avoid pesky blown lighter plug fuses.

I have also ordered a Viair 70P compressor. At $39.99 it is in the same price range.I hope to be able to review it as soon as I receive it.
I am hoping for a unit that is of better build quality as my main ideal is having a dependable unit as well as a fast performer.

Extreme Max 3001.0064 High Mount Spare Tire Carrier Review

The Extreme Max 3001.0064 High Mount Carrier is a great design.I snapped my original tire carrier of my Ranger 177TR because it stuck out farther than my fender.This one I installed on the frame by the offset near the tongue .It does look a little silly, with the angle, but it gave me the best boat to tire clearance on the market.If I installed it where the original tire mount was it would again stick out to far.Easy to install and does the job.

READY TO GO HI-TEC DIGITAL TIRE GAUGE Review

I have owned four of these. One for the motorcycle, one for the truck, and one each for the cars.

The Good:
These gauges are accurate, repeatable, and very small.

The Bad:
They are disposable. I get maybe a year out of them, which is perhaps 2 uses. I tried to replace the battery in one. It would be somewhat challenging for someone who did not have the necessary micro screw drivers and the patience to remove various items. Inside you will find a shoddy piece of electrical tape holding the battery in place - nice touch. After I installed a new battery, reassembled the gauge, and turned it on, I discovered that it reset itself to units that are unfamiliar to me, perhaps pascals. I never did figure out how to change the units. The price of the product is not worth the time I put into it anyway.

I don't recommend this digital pressure gauge.

American Flag Spare Tire Cover Review

This is a "one size fits all" type item, but it doesn't fit "all". Says it goes up to 31" tire size, but it doesn't. We have an SUV with tires that fit within the stated size description, but it ripped at the expansion seam while we were attempting to shoehorn it on. Also, I was disappointed with the quality of the fabric. It is a cheaper feel and thickness than ADCO covers and ripped very easily while we were struggling with it. So bag this manufacturer's products and stick with ADCO. Also, I bought it in Sept as Christmas present (I like to start early!), so now I will be screwed for getting any kind of a refund as its outside the 30 day limit.

Mothers 06824 Tire & Rubber Cleaner - 24 oz Review

If you have tires that are brown, this cleaner works great to clean off all the old built up gunk on them to make them nice and black again! You can then put on a tire shine product after cleaning them and it will look a lot better than if you put that on a dirty tire. Or, if you don't like the shiny tire look, just leave them clean for a great plain black tire look.

I was using Simple Green before on my tires and there is no comparison; you really need a specialized tire cleaner like this Mothers product. It really did clean off all the brown from my tires from built up tire shine products! Highly recommended product!

Slime 20089 Magnetic Pencil Tire Gauge with Aluminum Valve Cap - 2 Piece Review

I bought these because the tire caps that came with my new car were stolen and the replacement price from the dealer was ridiculous.These look decent if you just need the aluminum look because the chrome is a little over the top for your wheels.

You get 8 of the valve caps and then two mini tire pressure gauges.The gauges work fine, and read very close to the actual pressure in the tires.

The reason I marked it down a star is that on one of my valve caps the plastic threaded lining on the inside actually came apart, causing the cap to just spin on the valve.It still hasn't fallen off but it's just a matter of time.I only had that problem on one of them though.

Edit:I just realized that the picture doesn't show what the caps actually look like, so I included a customer image.

MICHELIN PILOT POWER 2CT MOTORCYCLE TIRE ? REAR 180/55ZR17 Review

If you are wondering what kind of tire you should get....stop and buy this 2ct rear tire and also the 2ct front tire by michelin.The 2ct tires are some of the best on the market...and they are sold here at an unbelievable cost. Smittybilt 2723 Tire Deflator Universal Review

When I first got these I though they would be very similar to the Staun Deflators. But after trying to use them I was pretty disappointed. If you follow the instructions they are pretty simple to configure. But the air flow was much lower then the Staun and they are much less sensitive then the Staun.

While these do work I would not recommend them.

I have had many blowouts on trailer tires when I'm towing, and I believed they all started with the tire air pressure being too low without me realizing it.Even when I have checked the tires before a trip, things happened during the trip and, not realizing it I continue driving and end up ruining at least a tire, sometime an entire wheel, hub and axle, other trailer parts, or the tire next to the one that blew out.When I saw this system it seemed like a very good idea for me.I got the transmitters from Amazon where I found them for less than the retail price.

When I first installed them, I wasn't getting good reception.I called the company and they sent me a free antenna extender and the reception was fine.

One day after I got the system working, while parked at home overnight, my warning signal was going off on one of the tires.I figured I must have not sealed it well when I installed it, so I aired up the tire and used the trailer.Then next morning the warning was going off again on the same tire.I removed the tire and sure enough I had run over something and the tire had a slow leak.After just one use the system has already saved me one tire problem.I think the system is great even at the retail price, and if you can find the same system for less, that's even better.

Mothers 10324 Reflections Tire Care - 24 oz Review

Reading an ad for Mothers new line, this product being one, I decided to give it a try. They claim it leaves a deep long lasting satin finish - perfect, I dont want my tires to look like shiny plastic. It does leave a no shine finish, but it doesn't really give the standout deep black "satin" finish I had hoped. Furthermore some of the products that I have been happy with lasted 2-4 times as long, this fading noticably between weekly bathing.

Slime 2071-A Digital LED Gauge (0-99 PSI) Review

Was surprised at how light this thing is. Like holding air. Not sure how long it will last as it is so not there if you know what I mean. That being said it works quite well and appears to be accurate after testing it against three other sources. The red back light is cool and needed for low light situations. Well worth the money I think, and would buy again. The slime products are all worth having. I keep the liquid slime in the trunk with a black and decker power station for jump starts and airing up tires.

Accu-gage Tire Pressure Guage - 100 PSI Range Straight Angle Review

I have owned different variations (with & without hose) of this air gauge for years. It is made of brass with 4 moving parts. It is accurate, consistent and reasonably priced. The quality and durability are very good for an air gauge in this price range. Remember, when buying an air gauge, the pressure you plan to use it for needs to be in the middle of the range of the gauge for best accuracy. If you are checking car tires in the 28-35 PSI range you want to buy a 0-60 PSI gauge. If you are using it on trailer and truck tires that operated at 45-60 PSI you want a 0-100 PSI gauge. Also, when checking tires it is best to check them when the tires are cold. The recommended pressures stamped on the side of the tires, in the owner's manual etc. are for cold tires. When driving the tire temperature rises due to heat generated by friction so any reading you take when the tires are hot will be high and not accurate.

...and highly recommended if you don't.Bought this device from another online vendor because Amazon had not yet started carrying it.This one gets only 4 1/2 stars because depending on where you place it, the displaymight not be readable in bright light conditions.However, the audible alarm will promptly alert you of anything headed south with your tire pressures.

I bought this tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) after losing the center differential to the tune of $880 in our 2004 Subaru.What in the world does this have to do with TPMS?Well, it turns out much more than you would think!

Most folks who own full time all wheel drive vehicles don't realize that they must keep close watch on tire pressures, tire brands, etc., especially if you have a manual transmission.If you own a full time all wheel drive vehicle, check your user manual to see what it says about buying tires for it and keeping
them properly inflated.Many of these vehicles might have to have ALL FOUR tires replaced in the event only 1 becomes unserviceable.

You might also find that you will have a FULL SIZED spare instead of one of those donut types.This is because no tire can vary in CIRCUMFERENCE more than 1/4" - 1/2" from another in order to maintain proper rolling characteristics.That my friends, is a pretty tight spec!Pressures must also be adjusted for loading of the vehicle.Some all wheel drive vehicles might still have the donut spare, but you will be limited in speed and how far you can drive on it.Your user manual might not explain why or you might question it and ignore the precaution...a very bad idea. Failure to heed this tidbit of information could result in a very expensive repair.The forces at work here are similar to those of driveline binding, a concept known to most seasoned 4WD vehicle operators...it just never occured to me how much a chronically low tire on a drive axle could really cost me!

The reason for this can get a little technical but I will try to keep it simple.The amount of air pressure in most tires affects how many times it will rotate over a given distance.With less air pressure in your tire, it will generally roll more times per mile, run hotter and under certain conditions, put more stress on the driveline of your full time all wheel drive vehicle.If it is normal for your tire pressure to be 30 psi at all 4 wheels and you have one tire running at 22 psi, you could be headed for trouble if you allow this condition to persist.It is even worse if you have a slow leak and just keep pumping it up rather than getting it fixed like I did.

Most all wheel drive vehicles have some means to detect the rotation of your wheels and based on that information redistribute power to the wheels that have the most traction.One tire running substantially low on pressure than the other 3 will be seen as a wheel that is constantly slipping.Yourvehicle will try to compensate for that by sending more power to the other 3 wheels.Usually a differential of some sort is involved in that process.Under low speed conditions, say 5 mph or so, there is really not much of a problem.But if you run a tire that is chronically low for 5000 miles (an oil change interval) at highway speeds, you could be headed for trouble.The lesson here is that a low tire over thousands of miles on a drive axle could eventually cause a problem.

How fast things go downhill will likely be determined by the design of your all wheel drive vehicle, the power distribution concept, whether it is an automatic or manual transmission and the difference(s) in the rolling characteristics between wheels.

In 2008 I believe TPMS systems became mandatory on all new vehicles sold in the U.S., but that was mostly safety related to prevent accidents that could be attributed to poor tire inflation.There was probably a little bit of "green thinking" involved in there, too as tire pressure relates to fuel economy and its impact on the nation's oil reserves.Some of these OEM devices are reported to
be not as flexible as after market ones.

What I like about this model is that you can set the Hi and Lo alarm limits for your application. (OEM TPMS systems might not allow you this flexibility because they don't want you changing anything.)The Orange's display will show green for
tires within the limit and turn to red and sound an alarm when the pressure goes outside the limits. You can also set the device to show pressure only, temperature only, or to toggle between temperature and pressure as well as set a temperature alarm.It is also one of the easiest aftermarket devices I've seen to reset when you rotate your tires.

I had my system installed upon buying a new set of tires at a popular warehouse chain.They installed it at no additonal charge.You will have to learn how to set it after rotating tires as some tire shops might not know how to do it, especially if you didn't get the device from them.It is also a good idea when you buy new tires or have a tire removed from a rim for flat repair, that you
let them know you have such a system installed in order to prevent damage to the sensors.In the days of rubber valve stems, tire shops would cut the valve stem or use a tool to pull it out to deflate the tire faster.Any tire shop worth its salt should be able to immediately recognize that you have a TPMS by looking at your valve stem.This may cause some tire shops to want to at least provide a new internal spring loaded portion (core) of the valve stem when servicing your tire.I would expect the fit to be fairly universal with no issues.However, they should not try to sell you new sensors.If you need one, make sure it is from Orange to ensure compatibility wth your display.I really see no need to replace sensors unless they are not working.For what it's worth, I have driven millions of miles and have never had the core of a valve stem fail, although I have recently had the rubber type valve stem fail because of long term exposure to the southwestern elements and an improper material spec when manufactured on the other side of the Pacific.

One final note is that this device should be relied upon only to detect changes (mostly deflation) in tire pressures.You will get much greater accuracy and conistency of measurement using a simple slider type tire gauge.Electronic devices have random and systematic errors that can affect their accuracy even among the same types of sensors.Be mindful of the accuracy spec on the TPMS and that you are actually using a different sensor to measure each tire.If you see a difference between your tire gauge and the TPMS, most often the tire gauge will be more accurate.Use the tire gauge to set pressures and use your TPMS to detect and warn you of changes that can affect safety and help you avoid conditions that can affect the long term service life of your vehicle's drivetrain.

If you have just regular front wheel or rear wheel drive, this device could easily save you a lot of money just by preventing things like an expensive tire from being destroyed, being stranded in the hot desert with your wife and kids or something similar.I even carry a pump now in case I develop a slow leak.If you don't have TPMS and do a lot of driving....get one....THIS one!

Yakima Spare Joe 2-Bike Spare Tire Mount Rack Review

I bought the spare Joe last august and i've used it many times since and I can say i'm 90% satisfied considering that there are no other options but to get a roof rack and look as if you are racing in tour-de-france(which is silly for me if i'm going to bike 10 miles from my home).

The problems i faced are similar to the person who posted earlier with a rav4. There is a vital strip that has to pass between the tire and the back door to secure the whole thing to the tire. This takes time as there is a metal bracket behind the tire.But after u get used to it (you need patience, because you are trying to pass a strip through a small hole)it works fine. Again, the strip can pass behind the tire but it takes like 1-2 minutes to get it through. I have two Schwinn bikes and i feel comfortable carrying them together on the rack. There are two exposed bolts on the rack arms from below, be careful not to scrape anything. Also put the heavier bike inside, and put both bicycles in opposite direction so that the front of the first bike meets the back of the other bike. The straps should be very tight and the rack pushed down from the part below the rear wiper as it can seriously damage it if not properly set.

Slime 20017 5-150 PSI Digital Tire Gauge with Lighted Tip Review

After using this gauge twice, it wouldn't turn on.So I figured the battery was dead and I took it apart to change it.It wasn't the battery that was bad but the battery/switch contacts. Almost an hour later I finally got them to work properly.The next time I used the gauge, in the space of four tires it went from working perfectly to needing three or four tries to get an accurate reading to not working at all. Needless to say, I'm not a fan of this product.
